Award winning, classical still life and portrait painter, Carol Vogel is known for her realistic and expressive paintings.

Multi-talented as a portrait painter, classical still life painter, interior designer, travel expert, and collector of antiques and interesting collectibles, I bring together these passions and talents in my figurative portraits and still life paintings. Incorporating one or more of my interesting collectible pieces, my still life paintings reflect a mood and feeling with lush pattern backgrounds, vivid color, and unusual combination of supports and collectible items. Visits to many international locations also serve as inspiration for my paintings.

Humanitarianism combined with a love of people inspire my pastel portraits and pencil portrait. There is a depth of beauty in every face that reflects an inner soul. Capturing the inner soul is a an inborn ability for me that is reflected in my representational and expressive portrait paintings.

In 1994 I moved to the foothills of Rappahannock County, Virginia to pursue a lifelong dream of living in the ambient countryside.  A river meandered through the lower meadows of my property making it a perfect site to paint the scenic landscape and figure in the landscape. Partnering with The Art League School of Alexandria, Va. I set up and hosted art workshops. In addition I held weekly classes and portrait and still life painting workshops in my teaching studio.  A few years later I starting hosting international painting workshops. In 2002 I moved back to the Washington, D.C. area to expand my art career and event business.

My extensive travel all over Europe, the South Pacific, Canada, the Caribbean, South America, Africa, and Alaska has served to inspire my still life, portrait, and figurative work.

I work from my home studio located in Germantown, Maryland.
